Melty Skull Skateboards

MELTY SKULL SKATEBOARDS BRANDING
Melty Skull Skateboards is a fictitious brand of skateboards featuring a non-existent app and thoroughly made-up online store. It was developed as an example of an expected scope and quality benchmark for a visual design assignment in a class I teach at Digipen Institute of Technology, Singapore. No real skulls or skateboards were harmed in the production of this project.

My Role:
Given that this is a demonstration project used as an example of how to develop a basic branding voice or vision for a fictional product in the context of a visual design/branding class I teach, I conducted all research, sketches and mood board research, typography, layout and final mock-ups.

Challenges Faced:
This project is a learning tool, the primary challenges were to make it accessible for beginner level design school students, visually appealing and delivered on time, as it had to be done in less than a week. The solution was to minimize scope, clearly analyze and design to the students specific needs and expected learning outcomes, rather than over-complicate things. The content represents the minimum expected final output for the student assignment in this class.

In terms of structure, this project follows a fairly standard retail space architecture. For branding, the intention was to be loud, brash but also quirky, joyful and optimistic.
